1. Research intern: We will have an opening for a research intern position starting between May and July of 2025 (dates flexible). The position is available for 1 – 2 years, but longer term extension is possible for the motivated applicant. Applicants should hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and be approved to work in the United States. The closing date for applications will be December 5th, 2024.


2. Graduate student researcher (MS/PhD). The Mowat lab is interested to hear from graduate student applicants motivated to work with sensory and/or cognitive outcome measures in dogs. Direct program admission is available to suitable candidates. Potential applicants should reach out with questions to Dr. Mowat.

Internship opportunity with detection dogs at MK9Solutions


MK9 Solutions Internship is designed as a 120-day live-in experience where students and recent graduates can develop significant hands-on experience working with dogs in a professional environment.

Interns will primarily provide support in an Assistant Kennel Technician role which includes all expected activities related to Canine Husbandry including, but not limited to, cleaning, feeding, walking, bathing, and grooming.

Interns will also have opportunities to work as Assistant Trainers and under supervision observe and assist in the development of dogs during their daily training routines.

Interns may also have opportunities to observe and assist in the whelping process and under supervision assist in early puppy education and stimulation processes.

Interns may also have opportunities to assist in record-keeping and observe ongoing research studies.

Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Summer Program.

For the first time in seven years, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has an open call for their Summer Award.
The program offers an individual the opportunity to spend two months of the summer conducting research at a Japanese university under the guidance of a host scientist.
The award includes a stipend, airfare, medical insurance, and a small research budget. All U.S. pre- and (recent) post-doctoral researchers in the sciences and humanities are eligible. The Peer Review Intern position provides administrative, analytical, and publishing support to Peer Review staff in the Global Peer Review Team. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to learn about and grow within the academic publishing industry, and is able to quickly pick up new information, think critically and creatively, and engage meaningfully with the daily work. Training will be provided for all the processes listed and there is no prior publishing experience required.


This is a paid, part time internship (15-25 hours per week during normal office hours) for 3 months, with the potential to extend to up to 6-12 months.
