The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2025. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research in Cognitive Psychology, including but not limited to areas such as decision making, memory, computational modeling, social cognition, human computer interactions, perception, metacognition, and artificial intelligence. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research interests will deepen course offerings within the Psychology Department and will be capable of building collaborations within the department and/or across the University (e.g., Computer Science, Neuroscience, Health Studies, Data Science).

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally supported program of research, engage in research training, and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarly research. Responsibilities will also include participation in department, school and university activities. The annual salary range is $90,000-98,000. Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2025.
