The Department of Psychology at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, career-track position at the rank of Scholarly Assistant Professor on the Pullman campus. This position is a fixed-term, three-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal. Scholarly Assistant Professors at WSU are expected to not only teach exceptionally well but also meaningfully contribute to the culture of the department, add value to the undergraduate experience, and are in a promotion-eligible position. The successful applicant will have an academic emphasis in teaching courses that cover cognitive/behavioral/biological psychology, a secondary focus on undergraduate research experience, and a commitment to department and university service.

The successful candidate will teach three undergraduate psychology courses per semester in areas consistent with the above areas of expertise (e.g., research methods, cognition, sensation and perception, learning, motivation, history of psychology, behavioral modification). As their secondary area of expertise, the successful candidate will develop a program for undergraduate research experience, that includes, but is not limited to, facilitating undergraduate research with faculty mentors, overseeing department undergraduate research and travel grants, and coordinating the annual undergraduate research symposium. Furthermore, successful candidates will contribute to departmental and university service. The workload of this position will be 60% teaching, 20% secondary area, and 20% service.
